Month in Review for Michael

Lake Syvlia, Ark.

On October 3rd, Michael ran his 3rd 100 mile race in a year and finished. He finished in 24:42:14 which was not as good as last year time wise, but he placed 20th instead of 27th. He said this year he was in the race mentally, but his body was not. I don't think he got to train as well as he would have liked too. We have been incredibly busy with things and he just couldn't find the time to make the training work. But he was pleased and had a fun time as usual. Patrick and Vinnie paced him the last 30 miles. Patrick called me at 9:00 and said he had 9 hours to finish 30 miles to make the under 24 hour time frame. Well the temp dropped considerably, and it started raining and sleeting, and with 5 miles to go, Patrick and Michael were hugging each other and walking. He got his belt buckle and all! Way to go!!

Saturday night I threw a running party for him and Memphis Ultra presented him with another trophy for his collection. We had a good time listening them tell the stories from the race. They encountered two black bears and several tarantulas.

He got home and could barely move. His knee was swollen and his ankle was pretty banged up. The knee swelling went down, but the ankle has been bothering. He went to Campbell's Clinic last night and they x-rayed it and couldn't tell anything. He is scheduled to have an MRI at some point today to determine if its a stress fracture or tendinitis. If it is a stress fracture, he would have to have a cast. So I told him this morning to be sure to wear wide pants unless he wants his pants cut off of him when he got home. We are hoping its just aggravated.

Other than that, he has been crazy busy with work and side projects. Next weekend he is going to be seeding a bunch of yards for one of our chemical buddies. This weekend as mentioned on my update, we are putting in the landscaping at my parents house. We are hoping to finish our backyard early November...or late however it works out.

Start of AT100

The following is a picture of Anne Marie and the dip...if you ever meet her...ask her about the dip at the AT100 race party...she mowed 90% of it down!!

Here is Patrick presenting Michael his award from Memphis Ultra!

Michael learned of a trick with a broom and some type of gravitational pull that was happening with the earth...the broom stood on its own for a couple of hours, till EK would come by and knock it over. If it was faced North and South, it would stand up by itself. hmmpf.
