If any of you watch Man vs. Wild (one of our favorite shows)...this week he is in Marfa Texas...at my family's ranch...the James Hugh Strachan ranch. Somehow or another, man. vs. wild came across this ranch and asked if they could film an episode there. It is really close to the Mexico border...so close to the border that one time when we were there we got pulled over by a helicopter with guns aimed at us. Apparently there was a lot more activity going on at the ranch than usual.
Anyways, from what my dad has told me, they shot for a couple of days and his crew stayed in the bunk houses. They showed Bear the Indian caves and the highlights of the property. There is a river that runs through it and in the summer it dries up. That is where I learned to ride horses. The crew and the Strachans tried to find some rattle snacks in the Chihuahuan desert, but they couldn't find any. So my cousin Waynelle, who flies a plane back and forth from the ranch went and got a snake from an Indian who raises them. Now the only way that Waynelle would do such a thing was if they put that snake to sleep while she was flying that plane. That's exactly what they did.
Anyways...the show comes on Wednesday at 8!
I am looking forward to seeing it. My family has reunions out there every now and then...I have been to one and it was so much fun! My dad and I drove out there an stopped by all kinds of cool places. He took me to Mexico so we could take a picture at the border. We went to Carlsbad Caverns and to White Sands, New Mexico. White Sands was one of the coolest places I have ever been...get this, white sand everywhere! Mountain of it! At the reunion we did all sorts of things...one of the highlights was the cook. He cooked on an old wagon and slept in a tee-pee. I learned to play dominos with my cousins. We went horseback riding everyday and wandered all over the place. It was definitely one of the coolest trips I have ever been on!
Thanks Dad!
